Being a Feminist

(Even if it is a misunderstanding) this is my understanding (1)of feminism:

"To expect men not to be sexist and women be."

I almost have the same understanding of it!

I think that's a bit simplistic. I don't know enough to give a definition of feminism, but as far as I know, their goal is to reach equal opportunities for both sexes. Given the current status, in order to achieve this goal and remove all the inequalities, it is important to be sensitive to roots of such inequalities and campaign on behalf of the oppressed. in other words, such a movement cannot remain gender-neutral, since the status-quo is not.

to Mohamad:
I totally respect the goal which as you said is removing all kinds of discrimination against both genders. but:
1) I think it is not mathematics that negative times negative makes a positive.
2) As you said there is an initial state in the system. For a very long time, men have been the oppressors and women the underdogs. The feminist's goal is to change the sexist view of men twoards women (which I agree with), but unfortunately they have forgotten that we also need to change this mentality of ourselves as underdogs who need pity.
